Abstract
In recent (mes, the concept of smart ci(es has gained remarkable a7en(on globally, driven by the increasing interest in employing technology to address various urban challenges par(cularly in the healthcare domain. Smart ci(es are demonstra(ng to be transforma(ve to the extent that they use an extensive array of technological tools and processes to improve healthcare accessibility, op(mize pa(ent outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency. The aim of the study is considering the pivotal role that smart city technology plays in enhancing healthcare delivery by forging a path towards improved accessibility, efficiency and quality of care for residents. To ensure a comprehensive analysis, we employed a well-structured search strategy across databases including PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus. The search scope encompassed ar(cles published up to 2023, resul(ng in a review of relevant ar(cles in first phase. In the second phase we chose to adopt a qualita(ve approach and conducted an empirical research based on a case-study (Creswell, 2018) focused on the project called “Intelligent Ci(es Challenge (I.C.C.)”. Our findings, although not generalizable, highlight the crucial role of smart city technology in advancing healthcare delivery, paving the way for be7er accessibility, efficiency, and quality of care for communi(es globally. By harnessing the power of data analy(cs, Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and mobile applica(ons, smart ci(es are driving real-(me health monitoring, early disease detec(onand personalized treatment approaches.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
