We carried out a detailed MRI study in 98 unrelated patients (50 female, mean age 49.7 years, SD ± 18.1; range 5 to 81) with mild temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE), who rarely or never had seizures at long-term (< 2 years) follow-up. Thirty-six percent (35/98) of them had MRI evidence of MTS indicating that MTS is not necessarily associated with seizure severity, and that other factors, both genetic and environmental, play an important role in determining seizure severity in TLE.

Abstract
We carried out a detailed MRI study in 98 unrelated patients (50 female, mean age 49.7 years, SD ± 18.1; range 5 to 81) with mild temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE), who rarely or never had seizures at long-term (< 2 years) follow-up. Thirty-six percent (35/98) of them had MRI evidence of MTS indicating that MTS is not necessarily associated with seizure severity, and that other factors, both genetic and environmental, play an important role in determining seizure severity in TLE.File in questo prodotto:
