Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE) usually begins in childhood with partial and secondarily generalized seizures and evolves in epilepsia partialis continue with unilateral hemispheric dysfunction. Onset of RE in late adolescence or adulthood is exceptional. We describe a 32-year-old woman who begun to present choreic and dystonic movements on the left limb at the age of 29. One year late, intractable partial seizures occurred and the diagnosis was then supported by brain MRI and EEG findings. This report suggests that lateralized choreo-dystonic movements may be the onset of RE.

Abstract
Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE) usually begins in childhood with partial and secondarily generalized seizures and evolves in epilepsia partialis continue with unilateral hemispheric dysfunction. Onset of RE in late adolescence or adulthood is exceptional. We describe a 32-year-old woman who begun to present choreic and dystonic movements on the left limb at the age of 29. One year late, intractable partial seizures occurred and the diagnosis was then supported by brain MRI and EEG findings. This report suggests that lateralized choreo-dystonic movements may be the onset of RE.File in questo prodotto:
