Bodybuilding is a structured discipline that can be performed either as physical exercise to improve health, both as a sport. The competitive bodybuilders face real competitions by seeking a performance and satisfaction of aesthetic parameters. The aim of this study is to investigate the differences between competitive and non-competitive bodybuilders on physical self-perception, exercise motivations, mood states, and anger. Competitive bodybuilders show more negative mood states (anger, confusion, depression, fatigue, tension), while the non-competitive bodybuilders show greater vigour. A week before the competition, the competitive bodybuilders show higher scores of state anger than non-competitive bodybuilders, while on trait anger no signifi cant differences emerged. Sports psychologists can implement interventions to reduce pre-competitive stress, promoting psychophysical well-being for competitive bodybuilders.

Abstract
Sports psychologists can implement interventions to reduce pre-competitive stress, promoting psychophysical well-being for competitive bodybuilders.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
