The effects of glycero-alcoholic extracts of shoots and leaves of Olea europaeea L. and oleuropein on diet and triton hypercholesterolemia were studied in Wistar rats. It was found that the hypocholesterolemic effects of the Olea extracts can be ascribed to a synergic action of oleuropein and polyunsaturated fatty acids contained in the drugs.
