Long-term (mean 4 years) treatment with clobazam (CLB), as adjunct medication, was performed in 8 epileptic patients presenting with startle-induced seizures (SIS: 6 patients) or eating seizures (ES: 2 patients), two kinds of therapy-resistant reflex fits. Continuous (0.5 - 1.3 mg/kg/day, three times daily, orally) long-term CLB-prophylaxis of SIS induced complete or partial control of the reflex fits in 66.6% and 33.3% of patients respectively. Intermittent (10 mg 1 hour before meals, orally) long-term CLB-prophylaxis of Es reduced considerably the seizure frequency in 2 ES-patients. Long term CLB-prophylaxis may be useful in the management of patients with therapy-resistant reflex seizures.

Abstract
Long term CLB-prophylaxis may be useful in the management of patients with therapy-resistant reflex seizures.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
