Seizures are reported to occur in 10% of patients with ALL. CAT scan has been widely employed for morphological evaluation of cerebral sequelae following both the disease and treatment. However no studies have been carried out to examine the prognosis of epilepsy in relation to brain calcifications. We present here the CAT scan and electroclinical findings in 7 patients with ALL and brain calcifications. These were predominantly occipital bilateral in 4; and diffuse in 3. Epileptic seizures occurred in 6 of the 7 patients; and were drug-resistant in only one (with Down syndrome); while well controlled on monotherapy in the others.

Abstract
Seizures are reported to occur in 10% of patients with ALL. CAT scan has been widely employed for morphological evaluation of cerebral sequelae following both the disease and treatment. However no studies have been carried out to examine the prognosis of epilepsy in relation to brain calcifications. We present here the CAT scan and electroclinical findings in 7 patients with ALL and brain calcifications. These were predominantly occipital bilateral in 4; and diffuse in 3. Epileptic seizures occurred in 6 of the 7 patients; and were drug-resistant in only one (with Down syndrome); while well controlled on monotherapy in the others.File in questo prodotto:
