Over the last three years, two patients presenting with renal solid masses were studied preoperatively with the currently available imaging techniques, and histopathology revealed leiomyomas. One tumor was centrally located, and the patient underwent radical nephrectomy, while the other was peripheral, and conservative surgical treatment was possible. The findings with imaging techniques were conflicting, particularly in the first case, and it is concluded that preoperative diagnosis cannot be made. Therefore, surgical exploration is considered mandatory, but kidney-sparing techniques can be applied in these benign tumors, when they are conveniently situated.

Abstract
Over the last three years, two patients presenting with renal solid masses were studied preoperatively with the currently available imaging techniques, and histopathology revealed leiomyomas. One tumor was centrally located, and the patient underwent radical nephrectomy, while the other was peripheral, and conservative surgical treatment was possible. The findings with imaging techniques were conflicting, particularly in the first case, and it is concluded that preoperative diagnosis cannot be made. Therefore, surgical exploration is considered mandatory, but kidney-sparing techniques can be applied in these benign tumors, when they are conveniently situated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
