Relation of low bone mineral density and carotid atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women

Due to the lack of convincing data about the association between atherosclerosis and osteoporosis, we evaluated the association between carotid atherosclerosis and bone mineral density in a sample of apparently healthy postmenopausal women who underwent health-screening in our hospital. We also evaluated a bone turnover marker, osteocalcin; we divided the population into 2 groups according to osteocalcin levels.
