This study provides an update to the Cochrane Rehabilitation rapid living systematic review (REH-COVER), aimed at synthesizing emerging evidence on the impact of COVID-19 and associated rehabilitation interventions. The review evaluated 7,407 studies, of which 38 were included in the qualitative synthesis. Key findings highlight the prevalence of post-COVID-19 conditions, with symptoms persisting in over 20% of patients beyond 12 months after hospital discharge. Risk factors for long-term complications include advanced age, ICU stay, and multiple initial symptoms. Dysphagia was noted as a significant issue in ICU patients, associated with prolonged intubation and mechanical ventilation. Rehabilitation interventions, such as aerobic and resistance training over 6-8 weeks, demonstrated effectiveness in improving lung function, symptom severity, and endurance. The findings underscore the need for structured rehabilitation protocols to address post-COVID-19 functional limitations and improve quality of life.
