Abstract

The recent landmark ruling of the Italian Constitutional Court related to the case of Fabiano Antoniani (Dj Fabo) has rekindled the discussion about the right to die. If current law recognizes to individuals the possibility to establish in advance their own will concerning medical treatments, at the same time, it does not allow medical assisted dying. The weight of the religious ideas is not negligible although they offer a significant split between Catholics and Protestants on the issue of the right to die.
